Dorien Harris

Dorien Harris is a community-driven storyteller who collaborates with other young creatives to build a community for developing artists in the City of Philadelphia. A tireless advocate, he fuels the careers of aspiring artists by crafting events and opportunities to gain in-field experience in film and video.

He is a freelance photographer/videographer and content creator for several businesses. With this, he's been able to build a team of other young people to support him with his freelance work.

After receiving his Associate Degree from Community College of Philadelphia, he decided to further his education studying Film & Media Arts at Temple University. Dorien recently started serving as a board member assisting with applicant recruitment, media management, and an ambassador for Black Rebel Nomads, a nonprofit organization devoted to creative cultural exchange through international travel.

When not working, Dorien enjoys roller skating and dancing. If you're interested in video editing, photography, or creating in any medium of art, you can connect with Dorien by sending him a message.

Artist Statement:

Driven by a purpose to serve audiences, I share stories that illuminate the rich cultures thriving within Philadelphia's communities. Witnessing the transformative power of storytelling firsthand – as a filmmaker and participant in spirited dance, music, and roller skating communities– ignited a light within my art.

These communities foster unique bonds and offer invaluable lessons, often hidden from the mainstream. My goal is to capture the essence of these microcosms through film by featuring authentic and cultural narratives to bridge the gap between worlds. By showcasing these overlooked pockets of creativity, my work aims to foster understanding and inspire a sense of belonging.
